Lockdown at PS High School lifted following 16 year old’s arrest

A brief lockdown at Parry Sound High School Monday morning ended with a youth’s arrest.

The OPP’s West Parry Sound detachment says officers investigated an incident at the high school that led to its lockdown. Police say they found a student was in possession of a weapon, and as a result a 16 year-old youth was arrested and held for a bail hearing.

OPP says there were no injuries and no further safety concerns, adding they are continuing to investigate the incident.

The local school board says students and staff are safe and thanks them and community partners for following the established protocol during the situation.

The board says further information will be sent directly to school families. Monday marks the second lockdown called and lifted at the local high school in less than 30 days.
