All schools at the Near North District School Board and Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario are closed to in-person learning Monday, Nov. 7 .
In a letter to parents, the Near North Board says it has determined it is unable to meet the health and safety requirements for all students while the services of CUPE members are withdrawn.
Officials will be communicating details about at-home learning for students on Monday.
Schools at the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic Board are open, along with those at Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord.
The English Catholic board says they will continue assessing the impact of the strike on the health and safety of students and staff along with its capacity to sustain operations on a daily basis and will keep parents informed.
The French Catholic board says all extracurricular activities are cancelled starting Monday, until further notice.
The board also recommends parents prepare a contingency plan in case it’s determined they cannot maintain the healthy and safe operation of its schools for staff and students.
The Trillium Lakeland District School Board and Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Boards say their schools will continue to be closed Monday as well.
