Parry Sound CoC’s 2022 Business of Excellence Award-winners

The Parry Sound Chamber of Commerce held its 2022 Business of Excellence Awards last weekend.

The annual gala is the local Chamber’s way of celebrating our region’s businesses, both old and new. Eight awards were up for grabs this year, six of which were based on votes and two picked specifically.

Christy Cafovski, the Chamber’s Executive Director called the evening a huge success. “All of the winners were very excited to have been a part of this event and we would like to thank everyone for coming out to support local businesses,” she said.

According to her, the President’s Choice Award went to B.LePage Fishery. The award goes to a nominee that the President of the board feels is deserving and encompasses community focus, business support, and excellence in their field. Cafovski said Sandi LePage has been a devoted member of the Chamber adding that she has truly blessed them with her presence.

“[LePage] is always volunteering and providing smoked fish for events. We can always count on her to spread the word about what we are doing and is the first to sign up for many of our events,” Cafovski said.

Other winners included

  • The Chamber Champion Award – 103.3 Moose FM.
  • The People’s Choice Award – Northern Swine & Steer.
  • The Community Spirit Award – The Drop.
  • The Growth and Innovation Award – Sound Youth Counselling.
  • The Entrepreneur of The Year Award – The SHE SHED Beauty Bar.
  • The Outstanding Customer Service Award – Bearly Used Books.

Cafovski said the event’s top sponsor was Parry Sound Cruise Lines, coming in with a $3,500 donation. She said those funds will help ensure that the proceeds from the ticket sales can support the chamber’s future programs and events like business after-hours and lunch’n’learns.

“Without the generous support of all of our sponsors we couldn’t have managed such a successful event. Thank you to the Chamber members who attended, the sponsors for the event, the Board of Directors and those who donated but couldn’t attend as well,” she added

The awards were presented on the Island Queen Friday, Sept 23rd. All the recipients were present to accept their respective awards except Bearly Used Books.
