Local Rotary Club and Habitat for Humanity turning donated property to housing for incoming Ukrainians

A businessman is donating his local property to the Rotary Club to retrofit it into accommodations for two new Ukrainian families.

According to a release by the club, Andrey Vovchenko, General Manager at Eco Development Group, offered his property in town, and with some help from Doug MacDonald with Habitat for Humanity, renovations and repairs will be done to ensure the house is safe and comfortable and ready for the newest arrivals.

Officials with the Rotary club say the funding for the repairs will be provided through the club adding the rent paid on the apartments will be paid back to Rotary to replenish resources, funding additional similar projects.

The club says with housing, both temporary and permanent, being one of the biggest challenges encountered as new residents arrive, they are always looking for any help residents can offer.

Should anyone have a property, that with retrofits and small repairs might be suitable accommodation for Ukrainian families arriving, the club asks you to call Linda West, the club’s president, or visit the website https://spaces-for-ukraine-wpsgn.hub.arcgis.com/.
