$3.2 M federal boost to bring high-speed internet to 5 local communities

Over $3.2 million in federal funding is coming to five local communities to bring better and faster internet to over 1,000 homes and businesses.

The federal government says our region is getting the lion’s share of over $5.3 million coming from their Universal Broadband Fund. The communities getting the internet boost are Port Carling, Glen Orchard, Juddhaven, Minett, and Port Sandfield.

Officials say the money, coming through the Rapid Response Stream of the Universal Broadband Fund, builds on the federal government’s mission to ensure 98 percent of Canadians have high-speed Internet by 2026.
