Canadore applauds degree expansion

Canadore is welcoming provincial approval of three-year degrees at colleges in Ontario.

“Expanding degree programs will meet demand among employers for graduates with specialized skills,” writes George Burton, Canadore President, on social media.

On Monday, the province announced Ontario’s public colleges will be able to develop new three-year degree programs and additional four-year degree programs in key sectors to address gaps in the province’s labour needs.

The cap on degree programs that publicly assisted colleges can offer will be raised by five percent.

Canadore currently offers two four-year degree programs:

  • Bachelor of Advanced Manufacturing Technology Management

  • Bachelor of Science – Nursing

On top of building a pipeline of job-ready graduates, the Ford government says the expansion will also enable increased access to education for students in smaller communities and rural areas.
