GoFundMe launched to help return Parry Sound local home

A Parry Sound local is in need of help to get back home from South America.

Dakota Reid was on a trip to Panama City to receive stem cell treatment when he unexpectedly became critically ill. According to a GoFundMe page created by Reid’s friend Jenny Harrison, he then needed to be admitted to intensive care.

Harrison says in order to avoid any further complications Reid requires an urgent medivac low altitude flight, accompanied by critical care trained staff. The cost of which, Harrison says, comes to roughly $62,000.

Reid says the situation is time-sensitive. “Funding is running out for me while I’m down here in hospital because I have some money for medical but onced that runs out I am kind of on my own,” he says.

Reids thanks the Parry Sound community for all the help and care he’s already received, adding hopefully they can come together and help some more.

If you are unable to contribute by way of donation, the GoFundMe page says any support related to cheaper medevac flights, emergency government funding, or anyone with contacts in Panama to donate blood can reach out to them through the page.
