Skyline-Lancelot Community COVID-19 Outbreak declared over

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit declared the COVID-19 community outbreak at the Skyline – Lancelot Apartments over on Tuesday. 

The outbreak was declared about six weeks ago on February 6th after 17 people in the apartments tested positive.

The health unit highlighted the hard work by the Skyline Living Corporation, the North Bay Regional Health Centre’s Assessment Centre and the residents and staff of the apartment complex in their efforts to help stop the spread.

45 people tested positive for COVID throughout this outbreak, 23 of which were confirmed to have the B.1.351 variant originating from South Africa, eight people got a preliminary positive result for a variant and three individuals have died in connection to the outbreak.

The health unit said all cases associated with the outbreak are resolved and there are no pending COVID-19 test results.

Officials encouraged the public to continue to follow public health measures including:

  • Stay home as much as possible;
  • Practice physical distancing
    • staying two metres from others who do not reside in your home or where you are living, 
    • and if you live alone physically distance from anyone outside your unique close contact home;
  • Wear a face-covering indoors and whenever physical distancing is difficult;
  • Wash or sanitize your hands often;
  • Cough and sneeze into your sleeve;
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth;
  • Clean high touch objects and surfaces often.
