Cassellholme COVID Outbreak declared over

The local health unit declared the COVID-19 Outbreak at Cassellholme over on Friday.

The outbreak was declared two weeks ago after 12 individuals tested positive for COVID-19, none of which were residents and one person got a preliminary positive result for a Variant of Concern.

All individuals are now considered recovered. That brings the number of COVID outbreaks in long-term care homes in North Bay Parry Sound District to zero.

The health unit said a 13th case was initially associated with the outbreak and remains a case on the Health Unit’s website, but after investigation didn’t meet the definition for an outbreak-associated case because of when they attended the facility.

Officials also noted that even though conflicting expert opinions were received as to whether some of these tests were truly positive, advice from Public Health Ontario indicated that these individuals should be treated as positive cases.
