An architecture firm has been selected for Parry Sound’s incoming “Super School”.
The Near North District School Board’s selection committee went with Brantford company, +VG Architects with The Ventin Group to design the new school.
Board Chair, Jay Aspin, tells MyParrySoundNow the new school will be a contemporary educational facility promoting the latest in building materials.
“The NNDSB thanks the people of Parry Sound; they’ve been extremely patient with this, there have been continuous delays with this project with the former board when we were elected in 2019, and our board took it upon themselves to make this school a top priority,” Aspin said.
He says this new school will combine the old Parry Sound Highschool and the elementary schools of Nobel and McDougall, all set to close once the new school opens.
Aspin says the board is looking at potential occupancy of the school next year, that is of course barring any new pandemic-related issues.
He and the NNDSB say they are really grateful and thankful for the Parry Sound residents’ patience and looking forward to the development of an educational facility that we can all be proud of.
