Case of South African COVID variant found in North Bay

The local health unit sys one of the COVID cases in the Community Outbreak in North bay was identified as the South African Variant of Concern. 

This is the first known case of the South African strain associated with the outbreak and as well for the Health Unit district. 

Officials say the individual who tested positive for the Variant has been identified as a close contact of an international traveller and is self-isolating.

As of Saturday, there are 20 confirmed COVID-19 cases with a Variant of Concern in the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit region, 18 cases in the Nipissing District and two cases in the District of Parry Sound.
