All students and staff of École secondaire catholique Algonquin in North bay were dismissed Friday.
The local health unit made the decision following a positive COVID test that is related to a variant of concern.
The health unit says all individuals from the 133 bus route and from the grade 9 cohort are considered high-risk and are required to self-isolate immediately.
All high-risk individuals will be contacted by the Health Unit over the weekend and will be provided with additional public health guidance.
Officials say no outbreak was declared as the investigation progresses, and they will be re-assessing the need to keep the school closed.
The Health Unit is working with the school and school board to provide guidance to parents, guardians and staff.
