Snow squall warning continued for Parry Sound, another 20-30 cm of snow by Monday morning

Environment Canada has continued the snow squall warning for the Town of Parry Sound.

The alert says snow squalls off of the Georgian Bay will continue tonight with additional snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 cm possible by Monday morning.

Drivers are advised to adjust their travel plans accordingly as dangerous winter driving conditions are expected tonight, particularly along parts of highway 400 between Waubaushene and Parry Sound and highway 11 between Orillia and Bracebridge.

The lake effect snow will move to the north of the region by Monday afternoon.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common.

Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow and road closures are possible.
