Health unit screening two long-term care homes’ residents for COVID-19

The local health unit will be doing COVID-19 surveillance testing of long-term care residents at Au Château and Cassellholme.

According to a release sent Monday, some staff tested positive in a routine screening but then came back negative upon further examination. As such, no outbreak was declared at either facility.

Officials also confirmed that as of Monday, the UK variant has not been found in the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit’s region.

Long-term care homes are being monitored for the highly contagious variant after several outbreaks were reported in similar settings in Southern Ontario.
