WPSHC reminds public that appointments are needed for assessment centre

The West Parry Sound Health Centre is reminding the public that appointments are necessary for anyone wishing to be tested for COVID-19 at the local Assessment Centre at the Parry Sound Mall.

The reminder comes on the heels of Premier Doug Ford’s statement on Sunday where he pleaded for people to get tested saying “I am asking the people of Ontario, if you are worried that you have COVID-19 or if you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 go and get a test. If you feel you need a test, you will be able to get a test”.

Ford added that even if you are not showing symptoms, you will still be able to get a test.

The West Parry Health Centre will be updating their Assessment Centre guidance document soon. There is some concern that the current location doesn’t have the physical space and safety procedures to handle an expected increase in requests after the Premier’s comments.

The first priority remains as always, the safety of staff and patients.

The West Parry Sound Assessment Centre is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and appointments can be sought by calling 705-746-4540, extension 5030.
