Total Fire Ban Lifted For Parry Sound And Surrounding Townships

Some fires will be allowed over the long weekend.

The province is lifting the Restricted Fire Zone as of 12:01 a.m. Saturday, May 16th.

In Parry Sound, the fire danger rating is set to moderate.

Recreation fires are permitted, day time and evening as long as they are in compliance with the open-air burning by law or have a valid incinerator or outdoor fireplace permit.

Household fireworks will be permitted this long weekend and the July 1st long weekend only. More details are on the town’s website.

Meanwhile, the West Parry Sound Fire Region Fire Danger Rating is moderate. No daytime burning is allowed.

In McDougall Township, evening burning is allowed as well as campfires for cooking or warmth.  Household fireworks are also being permitted.

In Seguin, the danger rating is also at moderate, with no daytime burning allowed and fireworks are permitted.

You must check with your local municipality to determine what burning is permitted in your municipality before lighting a fire of any kind.
