Parry Sound Cancelling Canada Day Celebrations And Extending Facility Closures

Parry Sound will not be hosting Canada Day celebrations.

On Tuesday, town council passed a resolution to cancel all bookings at the Bobby Orr Community Centre, the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame, the Charles W. Stockey Centre and all Municipal Parks up to and including June 30.

The decision is an extension of closures for facilities that were closed to the public back in March.

In addition, council made the difficult decision to cancel celebrations on July 1st.

The town says it passed a resolution for staff to cancel the public gathering and instead provide ways people can celebrate from home.

The extension of facility closures and cancellation of Canada Day celebrations are being made in an effort to limit the congregation of people within Parry Sound and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The town adds that staff remains available at all municipal facilities through telephone and email.

You can check the town’s website for up to date closure notices, service changes and reductions for hours of service for all municipal facilities.

The town continues to work with the West Parry Sound Area Municipalities to monitor the status of COVID-19 as it evolves to ensure business continuity while following directions from the Ministry of Health and the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit.

You can refer to the Health Unit for more information on the virus.
