Almaguin Highlands OPP Charge Waterloo Man For Driving Impaired Without Helmet

Almaguin Highlands OPP has arrested a man for driving an off-road vehicle impaired and without a helmet.

Police say on Friday around 2:35 p.m., they observed the driver not wearing his helmet and conducted a traffic stop in the Village of Sundridge.

An investigation revealed the driver had consumed alcohol and after failing a roadside screening test, the driver was arrested and transported to the Almaguin Highlands detachment for further testing.

The 55-year old man from Waterloo has been charged with two counts of operating a vehicle while impaired and one count of not wearing a helmet.

A 90-day suspension and 7-day vehicle impoundment were initiated as a result.

The accused will be before a judge at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge on Thursday, August 27.
