Henvey Inlet Wind Project sings important partnership

The Henvey Inlet Wind Project has taken a huge step forward.  Nigig Power Corporation, owned by the Henvey Inlet First Nation, signed an agreement last Thursday with Pattern Energy Group to work jointly to develop, own, and operate the planned 300 megawatt wind farm.  Henvey Inlet First Nation Chief Wayne McQuabbie says the wind farm will be the First Nation’s contribution to a greener Ontario and pave the way for other First Nations.  McQuabbie notes that this project is the largest First Nation renewable energy project in the country.  The project has a 20-year Power Purchase agreement with the Ontario Power Authority for all the power generated by the wind farm.  President and CEO of Nigig Ken Nobel says the project represents an economic turning point where they can create a prosperous future and inheritance for future generations.
