French School Board states their case for moving to Parry Sound Mall

A representative of the Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario made a deputation to Council Tuesday night in support of amending the Zoning Bylaw for the Parry Sound Mall to allow the French Elementary School to move into the South Western portion of the Mall from its present location at the Parry Sound campus of Canadore College.

He explained that they hope to take over the area that currently houses the Harvest Church that is approximately 9,000 square feet and has washroom for both male and female.

The school would have a separate entrance at the back of the mall and the current door into the mall would be for emergency use only.

The School Board is signing a 3-year lease with the mall and have applied to the Ministry of Education for funding for a permanent location.

At present there are some 40 students and 8 full time staff.
