Elementary and High Schools will close Tuesday because of rotating strike action

Parents across the Parry Sound region are making preparations for Tuesday when labour action will see schools close for the day.

All schools in the Near North District Board and the Simcoe-Muskoka Catholic School Board will be closed on Tuesday. In the Muskoka region the schools in the Trillium-Lakelands School Board will also close.

OSSTF District 4 President Glen Hodgson said in  a recent interview that “he did not want it to come to this but felt there was no other option to let the Provincial Government know how serious they are”.

As for the Catholic Schools, OECTA President Liz Stuart said “it has become clear that this Government will only do the right thing when they are under pressure from Ontarians. They have left us with very little choice but to take the next legal step in the bargaining process.”
