Police remind motorists of how to approach a four-way stop

Police are reminding drivers how to properly use a four-way stop.  With the installation of a new four-way stop at the intersection of James Street and Mary Street in downtown Parry Sound, West Parry Sound OPP feels they need to re-educate the public on how to proceed.  Officers remind everyone that at an intersection with stop signs at all corners, you must yield the right-of-way to the first vehicle to come to a complete stop.  If two vehicles stop at the same time, the vehicle on the left must yield to the vehicle on the right.  They also remind drivers that you must come to a complete stop for all stop signs and red traffic lights and stop at the stop line if it is marked on the pavement.
