PARRY SOUND, ON – Local residents are being asked to help shape the future of Parry Sound.
Town administration is looking at changing the previous Strategic Plan. Members presented revisions at the September 17th town council meeting.
There is a plan for public consultation to be scheduled in October but an exact date hasn’t been set yet.
Administration feels it is a case of less is more. Town management believed the previous plan was too ambitious and thought it would be better to reduce some of the goals so there are more resources to go around.
The five major focuses on the last plan were Growth and Development, Our Community, Organizational Excellence, Active Living and West Parry Sound Area Cooperation. Administration proposed to eliminate the last two and put more focus on the first three.
There were also concerns the environment and community communication weren’t focuses in the previous plan, which administration would like to implement.
The next step will be for council to review the proposed changes and present all the ideas at public consultations.
According to administration changing the Strategic Plan would come with minimal costs to the town.
