McDougall Township, ON – Police had to go to great extents to stop an impaired driver travelling the wrong way on Highway 400.
According to a release from the West Parry Sound OPP, the incident happened in the early hours of September 15th.
Officers were investigating a report of an impaired driver when they located the vehicle at 12:45 a.m. Police said it was heading southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 400 in McDougall Township.
Officers stopped traffic and deployed a spike strip, successfully stopping the vehicle.
The 33-year-old female driver from Notre Dame Du Nord, Quebec was arrested and charged with impaired driving, refusal to comply and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
She has a court date of October 3rd in Parry Sound. Her driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for a week.
So far this year the West Parry Sound OPP have charged 49 drivers with impaired or over 80
Police heeded a warning to drivers.
“Drink and drive, the police will show you some new bars,” the release said.
