PARRY SOUND, ON- A new leader has arrived for Parry Sound’s chamber of commerce.
An announcement from the chamber stated that there hasn’t been an executive director for the most of the summer, and thanked member businesses for their patience as a new leader was sought out.
They’ve now announced that Laurie Del Net has been hired as the new full-time executive director, effective as of next Monday.
“Laurie comes to us from The Business Centre, with whom she will remain in a permanent part-time basis,” read the chamber’s announcement.
“Laurie brings a wealth of corporate and small business experience to her new position, and we expect that she will be an excellent fit for our organization and an asset to our members.”
The chamber has also decided to cancel their annual business awards until the spring of 2020.
“This is not a decision that was taken lightly; however, we decided it was critical to focus our attention on finding our new Executive Director and giving them an appropriate amount of time to get up to speed on running the day-to-day operations of the Chamber,” read the chamber’s announcement.
“We appreciate everyone who took to the time to nominate local businesses for awards, and we apologize to everyone who was nominated and excited about winning. The same award categories are still on tap for the Spring, and we will provide details about our Business Excellence Award plans as soon as possible. Again, we thank you for your understanding and patience.”
