424 Transport and Rescue Squadron assists in Muskoka, Parry Sound rescues

TRENTON, ON- Military search and rescue personnel were out in force in cottage country this weekend.

According to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre out of CFB Trenton, 424 Transport and Rescue Squadron was involved in the rescue of  two people from a helicopter crash near Cooper’s Falls, southeast of Gravenhurst, on Saturday evening.

One person was airlifted to hospital in Toronto in serious condition, while the other had minor injuries. Their ages and genders have not been released.

The squadron also assisted with a rescue call near Parry Sound involving the Coast Guard. Seven people, including a dog, had been trapped on Franklin Island on Friday night around 9:00 p.m.

The group was transported to Parry Sound after being taken off the island.
