PARRY SOUND, ON – The Parry 008 fire is now just a wisp of smoke in the wind.
The .07 hectare blaze was dealt with quickly says Fire Information Officer Shane McCool.
He says it is too early to tell what sparked the small blaze.
“With all fires in Ontario they are investigated, and we will have a determination of the cause,” said McCool.
It was located just south of Round Lake Provincial Park about 30 kilometres north of Parry Sound.
He said conditions are quickly turning to a more fire-prone time as brush and undercover dry out from hot summer conditions. Then something as simple as a spark from a cigarette, a downed power line or a lightning storm can change things quickly.
“So we have been in a bit of a dry period,” admitted McCool. “Conditions are now in the high to extreme, but in the forecast, we are anticipating some precipitation in the next few days so that could help.”
