Donors still needed for local blood drive

PARRY SOUND, ON – More than 50 people are still needed to roll up their sleeves and give blood for a local drive to hit its goal.

The Canadian Blood Services will be in Parry Sound on Friday for a blood donation event at St. Peter’s Church and the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Territory Manager Elaine St. Pierre appealed to the public for help.

“We are only booked at about 45 per cent,” St. Pierre said. “Truthfully, it’s been a tough week. Maybe the arrival of the weather that we’ve deserved for so long is keeping folks outside, enjoying the sun?”

She added anyone who is interested and doesn’t have an appointment can drop in between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. St. Pierre said that slot is wide open.

The manager added the goal is to collect 96 blood donations but the organization will always take many as possible.
