Inaugural Porter flight expected to land in Muskoka on Thursday

GRAVENHURST, ON – The first ever flight from Toronto to Muskoka is finally happening.

Porter Airlines announced yesterday that the public and media are invited to the Muskoka Airport to watch the plane land closing the inaugural flight of that trip.

According to the airline, The flight itself is scheduled to arrive at 1:45 pm. As the plane lands at YQA there will be a ceremonial water cannon salute to commemorate the event.

After that, there is going to be speeches and a welcome reception for 20 minutes, then media opportunities.

At 3:00 pm, the plane and it’s passengers prepare to leave again.

3:30 is the scheduled take off time.

The seasonal service was put together in partnership with Porter Airlines, and Explorer’s Edge a regional tourism organization for Algonquin Park, Muskoka and Parry
Sound that is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport.

According to Explorer’s Edge, the idea is to increase the accessibility to the idea for international tourists.
