Our Biosphere Reserve is a finalist for a provincial Tourism Award. Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve is one of three biospheres that make up Ontario Biosphere Reserves and are collectively up for the Sustainability Tourism Award from the Ontario Tourism Industry Awards of Excellence. The award recognizes a business or individual that makes a viable and maintainable contribution to the practice and promotion of sustainable tourism in Ontario. The two finalists were chosen based on promotion and preservation of natural resources, involvement and engagement with visitors, and the economic impact on the tourism industry in the local region. Ontario Biosphere Reserves are up against the Metro Toronto Convention Centre for the award and the winners will be announced at the 10th Annual Ontario Tourism Summit’s Awards Gala at Blue Mountain Resort on November 13th.
