McKellar Reeve candidates talk about downloading of costs

With downloading of costs and reduced funding, Municipalities face tough times balancing the budget and McKellar is no exception.  Reeve candidate Ken Galloway says there isn’t much municipalities can do when costs are downloaded.

Incumbent Reeve Peter Hopkins says if re-elected, he would set up a steering committee.

Candidate for Reeve, David Moore says in a written response – QUTOE – “We continue to remind the province that there is only one taxpayer and that in their attempt to resolve the provincial debt crisis they cannot overburden the taxpayer at the Municipal level.” – END QUOTE.

Residents will be voting by internet and telephone between October 14th at 10:00am until 8:00pm on Election Day, October 27th.  Everyone should start receiving their voter instruction letters this week and if you don’t get one by the end of the week, contact your municipal office to ensure you are on the voters list.
