Watershed Safety Statement issued for Parry Sound and Muskoka

Local lakes and rivers are higher than normal causing unsafe conditions.  The Ministry of Natural Resources has issued a Watershed Conditions Statement because of water safety for all watersheds in the Districts of Parry Sound, Muskoka, and a portion of the County of Haliburton.  Water levels and flows in local lakes and rivers have been higher than what is normally expected this time of year due to the amount of rain received over the past few months across the region.  Residents and those visiting the area are advised to be aware of current watershed conditions, exercise caution while around bodies of water and maintain close supervision of children and pets.  Higher than normal lake water levels and river flows are expected to continue through the next few weeks and the MNR is closely monitoring the weather and developing watershed conditions.
