New survey shows residents opposed to proposed Bala Falls project

A new survey reveals that a large majority of Bala residents oppose the proposed Bala Falls power plant.  The online survey was conducted by an independent research firm out of Toronto, sponsored by the Bala Voice, from August 15th until September 1st and received just under 600 replies.  Of those who took the survey, 83 percent said no to the question, “Do you think the proposed power plant at Bala Falls should be built?” and the percentage increased to 85 for respondents who said they live where the proposed power plant would be built.  Managing Partner of Protean Strategies, Laurence Bernstein, who devised, monitored, and conducted the survey says this is a very strong sample size for a township the size of Muskoka Lakes and is a solid indication that this reflects the views of its residents.  Swift River Energy Limited has proposed to build the power plant in Bala to harness the energy of the falls.  For additional details on the results of the survey, please go to The Bala Voice Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/thebalavoice
