A Parry Sound high school alumnae and filmmaker has made a documentary geared toward inspiring women to be active in their lives and get moving.
59-year-old Wendy Ord took up skating in her 50’s as part of a confidence booster after a difficult divorce and made a documentary about her journey to The World Figure Skating Championships in Germany.
“I’m blessed with finding the funny things in life and maybe growing up in such a harsh climate like Parry Sound made me find that laughter,” joked Ord when she spoke to My Parry Sound Now.com
ToThe Worlds follows a team of mature figure skaters aged 46 to 77 as they push past heartbreak, injuries and family crises to go for geriatric gold.
Ord says it’s refreshing to begin 2019 with a simple portrait of female power: One where there are no victims, only women finding their own happiness.
To The Worlds premiers this Friday, January 18th at 9:00pm on CBC Docs POV, and on the CBC TV streaming app.
