Police in Parry Sound and area want a safe and enjoyable Labour Day long weekend. West Parry Sound OPP says the increased number of persons on and using our roads, trails and waterways requires an increased sense of awareness on behalf of everyone to make the final long weekend of the summer a safe one for all. Officers will be out in full force this long weekend concentrating on the “Big Four” when it comes to traffic safety – Aggressive driving, impaired driving, distracted driving and lack of seatbelt use. In addition, the OPP Marine Unit will be out there to ensure people have the proper number and approved personal floatation devices (PFDs) on board and also urge the public to keep alcohol off the water. The OPP urge people to give driving their full attention, exercise caution and patience on the road and be a sober driver.
