Camp Kitchikewana will be getting new canoes thanks to a generous donation. The YMCA run camp in Honey Harbour announced Tuesday that Gore Mutual Foundation has donated $10,000 which will allow the camp to purchase a new fleet of canoes for campers. The donation is part of $175,000 that Gore Mutual Foundation is giving to 17 YMCA camps across Ontario and British Columbia to mark the Foundation’s 175th anniversary. Camp Kitchi has provides children and youth to experience the tradition of overnight camping with a focus on water-based activities, offering campers the chance to take CYA sailing levels, ORCKA canoe and kayak levels, YMCA Swimming levels, and Lifesaving Society levels while at camp.
