Paramedic union protesting Town of Parry Sound EMS shift in the district

The Town of Parry Sound will have a group paramedics at tonight’s council meeting to protest a shift in EMS services in Argyle.  Back in June, council approved a recommendation from the EMS Advisory Committee to move services from South River to Argyle to cover volunteer services there once one of the two volunteers retires.  OPSEU paramedics say the move could endanger the lives of residents in South River, Burk’s Falls, and surrounding areas as there will be just three vehicles and six medics to cover night time hours in the Parry Sound District.  OPSEU Staff Representative, Sean Wilson says adding new services in Argyle can’t be at the expense of residents’ safety in other towns.  The meeting gets started at 7:00pm tonight in the council chambers of the town office.
