MPP Miller confirms provincial funding for multi-purpose centre in Carling Township

Carling Township will be getting provincial funding for its new multi-purpose centre after all.

Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller confirmed the $968,000 in funding at an announcement at the centre on Friday.

The 9,443-square-foot facility will host family gatherings, conferences, business functions and serve as an emergency shelter. In addition, the fully licensed commercial kitchen will help support training and host larger events. The Township of Carling was without a multi-use facility since the former community centre was condemned and demolished in 2017.

“Our government is proud to support the community of Carling in creating a modern, multi‑purpose centre that will enhance the quality of life for people and businesses in the area,” said MPP Miller. “This investment provides a much-needed space in which to gather and host special events.”

“We thank the province for helping us construct a new community centre for our residents and businesses,” said Mike Konoval, Mayor of the Township of Carling. “This new facility is a very important part of our efforts to boost the local economy and provide a modern venue to attract events, conferences and business functions.”

At the announcement, Konaval said the facility is expected to be up and running by December but will have a grand opening by the final week of next May.
