Updated MNRF Outdoor Card begins next week

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says there will soon be a better way for hunters and fishers to get their Hunting and Fishing Licensing.

In previous years, hunters and anglers required separate cards for both activities.  Now the service has been streamlined into one card and a mobile phone app.

The new Outdoor Card program is an effort to modernize the service. The new Fish and Wildlife Licensing service created by the MNRF will make mandatory reporting easier for hunters.

Features include a mobile license summary that can be stored in a digital format in a mobile device. The MNRF says it will be a more user-friendly experience, increase purchasing efficiency, improve collection of important hunter reporting information and support sustainable fish and wildlife management.

“It’s a modernization of the way we handle hunting and fishing licenses in the province,” says Jolanta Kowalski, senior media relations officer of the MNRF says

Hunters will be able to use one Outdoors card and be able to purchase licensing products online here. Old cards are still valid until their expiry where hunters will then be required to purchase the updated version. Hunting and Fishing Licenses are typically active for three years.

MNRF is in the midst of changing their services this week and services to purchase an Outdoor Card will be shut down until Monday.
