With cold weather upon us, it’s important to keep moving and active.

RISE, The Resource Centre for Independent Living has partnered with local Yoga instructor, Ellen Koennecke, to provide a monthly adaptive Yoga class and social.

The Sit-and-get-Fit program happens monthly though is hosting a half-hour class and social this Thursday from 1:30pm to2:30pm.

“Not only is this a great benefit exercise-wise, being able to move the joints so that you don’t stiffen-up, but it’s also a great stress-reliever. It just puts you in that frame of mind where you can do anything, Tammy Gould, Executive Director at RISE.

The class is adaptive and accessible therefore seniors or individuals with walkers and wheelchairs are encouraged to come to the event. This yoga class and social is free and open to people of all abilities. Yoga can help improve flexibility, strength, and balance while reducing anxiety and stress. Yoga could even help you sleep better.

Drop in’s are welcome though RISE asks that you register by calling the office at (705)746-6996, visiting their website or on their Facebook page that can be found here.
