Our local Habitat for Humanity will become a full chapter. On September 1st the Habitat for Humanity affiliates of Muskoka, North Simcoe, Orillia/Lake Country, Sudbury, and North Bay and Blue Sky Region will legally amalgamate under the name of Habitat for Humanity Ontario Gateway North. Local Chapters will remain in place in each of these communities to maintain a local presence and to carry on the proud building history in each area with the Parry Sound Adopt-A-Home Project being converted to a full chapter. Average wait time on social housing lists in this new region is 2-5 years and Since 2001, the current affiliates have built 35 homes and four more are being built and one donated house will be renovated in 2014 to serve five more low income families – two in Muskoka, one in North Bay, one in Penetanguishene and a renovation of a donated house in the District of Parry Sound.
