Conservation officers lay violation charges during complete fire ban in Parry Sound

An out of control wildfire wasn’t enough motivation to stop people from breaking the rules.

Despite a complete fire ban being put in place by the Ministry of Natural Resources, conservation officers still found fires were being lit. Between July and August, 72 warnings were handed out and 64 people were charged with violating the fire ban. The ban was put in place to stop anymore fires burning out of control, while emergency crews worked to control the monstrous Parry Sound 33.

The MRNF has a tip line for anyone who wants to report illegal activities including fire, hunting and fishing violations. If you want to report any violations you can call 1-877-847-7667. Crime Stoppers also accepts anonymous tips at 1-800-222-8477.
