North Bay man pleads guilty to reckless hunting practice in McDougall

A North Bay man is facing a hefty fine for unintentionally shooting another man.

Last September, while hunting in McDougall Township, Paul Smith fired at a grouse with a shotgun and his pellets hit a nearby man on another property. The man’s injuries were not life-threatening according to the report.

Smith pleaded guilty of discharging his weapon without due care and was fined $5,000 by the MNRF. He’s also suspended from hunting for two years.
