Local OPP support new online self-reporting system

The new system of reporting crimes online has the support of our local police force.  West Parry Sound OPP are pleased with the new Citizen Self Reporting initiative that will allow the public another way to report select incidents which are not an emergency, by completing a report online at their convenience.  Only occurrences that do not involve an injury, a suspect, or evidence are able to use the system and an officer will attend if requested.  Crimes that can be reported online are Theft Under $5000, Mischief or Damage to property or vehicles under $5000, Theft from Vehicles, and Lost or Missing Property.  By providing people with another option for reporting crimes, the OPP is hopeful that more incidents will be reported, resulting in the collection of information to develop future crime prevention initiatives.  To access the system, go to opp.ca.
