Walk for ALS looks to continue 100k success over last decade

Walk for ALS organizers in Parry Sound are looking to continue the success of the annual fundraiser this weekend.

In the last decade, the local walk has helped raise quite a bit to put towards for research into the disease.
“We’ve seen our turnout increase year over year,” said organizer Joe Villenueuve. “We’re proud to say that we have raised well over $100,000 in the ten years that we’ve been doing this walk.”

Villeneuve says the walk hits close to home for many Parry Sounders.

“We have a lot of families in the Parry Sound area that have had people affected by ALS,” said Villeneuve. “It’s a coming together for those families to support current individuals that are affected by ALS and those that have been lost to ALS in the past.”

The walk kicks off at the Bobby Orr Centre this Saturday and if you haven’t pre-registered you can do so starting at 10:00am.
