Possible site revealed for pool complex

Parry Sound and Carling have purchased 49 acres of land that could be the future home of a new public pool and wellness centre. Mayor Jamie McGarvey says he hears almost every day that people want a facility like this. The total cost of the land was $420,000. Mayor Jamie McGarvey says the two towns didn’t want to miss the opportunity when the price was low:

The property is on the east side of Parry Sound Drive. The land stretches from Connor Industries to near Canadore College to Darlington Lake. McGarvey says the complex could serve 20,000 people. He says federal funding and business partners will assist in covering costs:

Consultations for the pool will begin in the new term of council. In April, seven municipalities and two first nations groups in the Parry Sound District expressed interest in exploring the potential of creating a pool and recreational centre.
