“Community-minded”, retired automotive service manager runs for council

He ran 25 years ago and did not secure a seat, but Roger Burden is giving it another try. Burden has announced he is running for Parry Sound council. He says he worked for 36 years in the automotive service industry but has also been very involved in the community.

Commenting on the issue of businesses struggling to attract employees, he says we really need to focus on building our local industries.

Reflecting back to when he first ran for council, Burden says some of the same issues still exist today, but things are improving.

Michael Barker, Lee-Ann Turner and Albert Fuller are also vying for seats at the council table, while incumbents Doug McCann, Bonnie Keith and Paul Borneman are seeking re-election. Jamie McGarvey and Dave Williams are running for mayor. Parry Sounders head to the polls on October 22nd.
