Pedaling for Parkinson’s raises more than $500k in final year

It took seven years to raise a million dollars for Parkinson’s research, but for its final year Pedaling for Parkinson’s has surpassed their goal to raise $500,000. Pedaling for Parkinson’s co-founder, Peter Istvan says the event brings hope to those affected by the disease:

Istvan adds there will be guest speakers at the event including representatives from Parkinson Canada, riders, and two speakers who will talk about their experience living with Parkinson’s. Istvan says while this is the final Pedaling For Parkinson’s, there are plans for a smaller scale fundraiser in the future:

All of the money raised goes into the Pedaling for Parkinson’s research grant which administers a $50,000 grant/year over the next 10 years to find cures and better treatments for those living with the disease.

Cyclists will be out on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you’re out on the roads this weekend, take some extra time to ensure cyclists’ safety. You can learn more and donate on the Pedaling For Parkinson’s website.
