The Sound Splash Pad Steering Committee is calling council’s decision a big step in the right direction.
Co-chair of the Sound Splash Pad Steering Committee Chris McDonald says the splash pad will now formally be included in the budget talks, instead of just being on the wish list. Parry Sound Council defeated the motion to support the Sound Splash Pad Steering Committee’s request to apply for a Trillium Grant.
CAO Rob Mens says a comprehensive plan is necessary in order to apply for the grant. McDonald says there is a certain process the town must follow for developments. He says over the next couple weeks, the committee will be speaking with town staff to firm up splash pad design, features, water recovery, construction and operational costs.
