No serious injuries or deaths in the area, but a lot of charges laid over the long weekend

While there were no serious injuries or fatalities, the West Parry Sound OPP was still kept busy.

Officers were out in force for a Canada Day long weekend traffic blitz. Speeding made up 29 of the 59 charges laid during that blitz. The other top charges include seven moving violations and 10 other highway driving-related charges. There were four liquor licence charges and two impaired driving charges. OPP also laid three separate impaired driving charges, all involving alcohol consumption.

On top of that, a Brantford man driving an ATV in Archipelago is facing five charges, including impaired driving after the ATV collided with another vehicle on a curve in the road. An Innisfil man was arrested and charged during a marine check on Little Whitefish Lake.  The passenger was also charged with possession of marijuana. In yet another incident, an Australian man faces an impaired driving charge after a vehicle went into the ditch on McDougall Road.
